Sweet Hour Of Prayer

"A loyal intellect must conspire and add the energy and fire of its undoubting and undivided faith to that kind of an hour, the hour of prayer." -E.M.Bounds
Bounds goes on to say, "The entire man must pray. The whole man, life, heart, temper, mind, are in it. Each and all join in the prayer exercise. Doubt, double-mindedness, division of the affections, are all foreign to the closet character and conduct, undefiled, made whiter than snow, are mighty potencies, and are the most seemly beauties for the closet hour, and for the struggles of prayer."
Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care And bids me at my Father's throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
That is just the first half of the first verse of the wonderful hymn.
It is a soothing, peaceful reminder of our Heavenly Father's attention to our needs and the privilege we have, to carry them to Him.
Would we pray three times a day as Daniel? Would we labor through the ridicule as Elijah? Would we toil through the night in despair without sleep as our Savior, to meet our Father at His throne, to be heard of our troubles, desires, needs, and wants?
Prayer is as essential to the soul as oxygen is to the body. The whole man must be given to it for the sake of living. God calls us to prayer. God convicts us to pray. God corrects us in prayer. God commissions us in prayer. May we set times or appointments of prayer and from it begin to see its fruit.
Ephesians 6:18- "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
Let us pray!
